Looking for a colleague who takes work off your hands, inspires you, and helps you finish earlier? And who always agrees with you 🙂? That dream colleague is closer than you think; It’s already waiting for you in Microsoft Copilot.
Microsoft Copilot: A secure AI
With Microsoft Copilot, every employee gets a personal assistant. This program is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) tool that helps people work faster, more effectively, and better across all Microsoft365 applications. The advantage of Microsoft Copilot is that it is hosted securely, unlike tools such as ChatGPT. Users, therefore, don’t need to worry about sharing their data. Moreover, employees using Copilot save an average of 3 hours per week, and 91% recommend the program to their colleagues.
Microsoft Copilot has access to all information within Microsoft365, including documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, appointments and notes in the calendar, text and images in emails in Outlook, chat and video calls in Teams, and notes in OneNote. Copilot uses all this information to search, read, and process content faster. But what exactly can you do with it?
What can you do with it?
Microsoft Copilot supports all your daily work tasks: From quickly creating a detailed Excel spreadsheet to drafting a concise project proposal based on a few notes. The examples below illustrate how Copilot helps you work faster and more effectively in your favorite programs.

Microsoft Word
Did you know Copilot is quite a capable writer? Ask Copilot to add a paragraph, summarize a text, or adjust the tone of voice. Or give your personal assistant one of the following prompts:
- Replace all formal “you” with informal versions and make the text more formal. Also, write an informal version for internal use.
- Add more paragraphs and punctuation to improve readability. Include H1 and H2 headings.
- Turn my notes from Teams and OneNote into detailed meeting minutes.
- Ensure these two documents have the same formatting style.
- Strengthen my arguments and check the text for inconsistencies and errors.
Microsoft Excel
Copilot can help you process and analyze information faster. For example, you can ask:
- Compare the sales figures of 2023 and 2024. Write a short summary.
- Provide an overview of products with a profit margin < 20%. Is this more or less than last month?
- Create a report on the performance of Team A and clean up the data.
- Why did revenue decrease in July? Provide three possible reasons.
- Create a pivot table showing totals per customer and month. Use clear and consistent colors.
Microsoft PowerPoint
With Copilot, you can effortlessly create an attractive and clear PowerPoint presentation with prompts like:
- Create a presentation with 10 slides based on a Word document and add 4 relevant photos from our company’s photo folder.
- Merge slide 1 and slide 8, retaining only the key information. Do you think any information is missing?
- Based on this presentation, create a short two-page summary.
- Turn these 4 bullet points into 4 slim columns with space for images.
- Add suitable icons and images and give the presentation a professional look.
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Copilot can help reduce the daily burden of reading and responding to emails. Save time and start your day focusing on the most important matters. For example, ask:
- Provide an overview of what I missed over the past 2 weeks during my vacation. Summarize the highlights and indicate what I need to respond to as a priority.
- Send the minutes of the last meeting to all attendees and list the action items per person. Assign each person their own icon.
- Write a polite email to reject a job applicant. Save it as a template.
- Compose a cheerful email to all employees announcing that we are celebrating a birthday next week and there will be cake in the canteen. Add a fun animated image and resend the email the week after.
- Organize all emails from each client into their own folder and assign them a unique color. Provide a brief status update on each project.

Microsoft Teams
Teams is very convenient for short meetings and quick communication, but it can be even better. Utilize Copilot so you never miss an important notification about project meetings, sales calls, or weekly team updates.
- Create a very concise summary of this meeting, including the topics discussed, decisions made, and action points.
- Indicate who is responsible for what and create tasks in the calendar.
- Show me which messages I haven’t read today and summarize the conclusions.
- Find out which decisions were made about this project last year and by whom.
- Display the documents and information I need to prepare properly for the upcoming meeting.
